“Good Bar and Restaurant” - This is one of the main bars on the street in Sosua and is a must, to meet people, have a drink or two and now with some fantastic sandwiches made fresh. This is the top watering hole for all the locals so it has to be good. Look out for the specials during the week and also afternoon bingo which you will need to get their early to book your seat.

“Super bar/restaurant stop in Sosua” - We were in Sosua first week of October and stopped in this bar on our visit around the town.
Very nice Canadian owners (Patty and Kelly) and staff, friendly patrons, and all around great ambiance. We didn't have a full meal there, though we had heard the food was very good. We tried the bacon butty for a snack and it was great. Prices were good. It is a popular place with the ex pats and is conveniently located right in town.
Definitely worth a stop-in if you are in Sosua.

“Arrrh. There be Pirates Here!” - Not really, but this bar has a fun atmosphere and you can buy t-shirts etc. with "Jolly Rodger" on them for the folks back home. Food was good. Service was very good and beer was cold.

“Best pub in Sosua” - We are winter residents in Sosua having recently purchased a villa in Casa Linda. For strangers it can be daunting to make new friends, find a decent place to eat and learn about local customs and attractions. All this we did find and more at the Jolly Roger. Patty and Kelly are wonderful hosts who have made the transition from strangers to friends a true joy. Add to that good pub food and lots of fun activities and we have found the perfect watering hole.

“Great place for feeling like you fit in. Good food, good people, fun atmosphere!!!” - We are so lucky to have found the Jolly Roger and Patty and Kelly. They certainly make you feel at home and they take the time to help you find what you need around the area as well as offer good food and drinks at a good price so we can afford to eat out when we are there. It has made us move forward in our plans to move to the Dominican knowing there are people like them there that have been through it and are willing to help some of us who are a little more shy about making the big move. I cant wait to come back In October and Patty and Kelly are the first people I want to see and the Jolly Roger will be my first meal and Beer back in Sousa :) And if you are lucky to be there on a day for a specialized meal prepared by Patti - its awesome. We had Easter Sunday Dinner there. !!!!

“GOOD TIMES, GOOD FRIENDS AND GOOD FOOD.”

The Jolly Roger is one of Sosua's high points. Patty and Kelly run a clean, safe, affordable, friendly, English speaking haven. They offer good food with a continuously changing menu. Personal favorites of mine are the chicken wrap and the wings. I've been going there for over a year and the Jolly is the perfect place to hang out, stop in for lunch or dinner and to go throw darts on a Friday night. They are also very community conscious, sponsoring a multitude of charity fundraising events including weekly bingo.

“A GREAT PLACE TO HANG OUT”

There are many pubs in Sosua but this is one of the best. Mostly Gringos stop here for a drink or meal. They have so many wonderful activities such as Bingo, Karaoke, thieves market, open mike, quiz day and much more. Owners Patty and Kelly make you so at home, prices are very good and the friendship is so welcome. Do not visit Sosua without stopping at this bar.

“Good eats” - Came here with a friend for a lunch, and the food was superb. I had a hamburger that was excellent and my friend also enjoyed her meal. I also liked the set up and ambiance of this place. For hearty, well priced yummy pub food, I strongly recommend Jolly Roger Bar.

“Burgers, Chicken wings and Coke”

Jolly Rogers is run by Kelly and Patty, two delightful Canadians. I have had the burger, excellent and the french fries perfect. The chicken wings I ordered the 20 pieces and was expecting the American style chicken wings, boy was I surprised - these weren't just wings these were pieces of chicken, wings, and the drumettes are the size of drumsticks.

I am a fan of American Coca Cola, most people are not aware that Coke has different flavors through the world, and the Coke here in DR is the genuine stuff, At JR's it doesn't come out of a soda gun it comes right out of the bottle (note I said bottle not a can - and yes there is different in taste).

JR also has nights for quizzes, karaoke night. and other fun nights. Even without the entertainment I keep going back because it is a fun place to be. If you need a comparison it's kind of like a DR version of "Cheers". You will meet fun people here from all over the world.

“Great place, great fun. Beach bar feel!” - Friendly and make you feel at home. food is good and reasonably priced. It has a nice feel with a big local Ex-Pat following apparently. We would have given it five stars but the tables and plastic chairs just seem to be needing some upgrading a little as you want a bit of a pub feel for a place called the Jolly Roger. Saying that, we do recommend that you visit. And the beer was ice cold! A definite plus!

“Great place to hang out” - Had a great time hanging out here on my recent stay in Sosua. The CANADIAN owners Patty and Kelly are great people and their staff are lots of fun. We met lots of expats who make this their hangout spot and they are very friendly( hey Mic). The food and drinks were great and the late night golf cart rides with Kelly were a lot of fun. We had some very late nights hanging out with Kelly who showed us the town. So if you are in Sosua and want a break from the noisy clubs down the street go and see Patty and Kelly at the Jolly Roger.I will be back the next time I am in Sosua.

“Fantastic Canadian Owner” - I stopped at the Jolly Roger because I needed a shirt and it was late and everything was closed. I met the owner, a cute, blonde Canadian lady who was VERY friendly and helpful.
Great little open air, road side bar right on the main strip there in downtown Sosua. I would strongly suggest stopping in if you are in need of a little English or have questions about the area.
Friendly people, cold beer, good food

“Lovely place” - We stopped here for a drink on quite a few occasions while we were on holiday. Drinks are good, service fast, prices very reasonable. Kelly the owner was always happy to come and have a chat. They had a 50,s and 60,s theme night while we were there, which we really enjoyed. Thanks, John and Judy

“Round two with Jolly Rogers...” - Went in to Jolly Rogers recently and i have to say, the staff was incredible. The waitress was very friendly and the owner came over and offered me some of his hot sauces to go with my wings. I usually carry around my own hot sauces, but the ones he provide for me and his special sauce, were to die for. I loved it and i really appreciated it! He also explained to me why they charge for the extra wing sauce, and i understand. Great experience and I can't wait to go back.

“Favorite hangout in Sosua” - We stayed in Sosua in April, was a great time. Came across the Jolly Roger & instantly felt like we were back home. It is a fantastic bar, Kelly & Patty are awesome! The staff was very friendly as well. The food & drinks were great & overall just a great experience. We visited them every afternoon & night. Stop in for a drink or food & sit back & enjoy the atmosphere. We hated to leave, but it was a great experience meeting such wonderful people in the DR.

“A slice of Canada in Sosua Dominican Republic” - Canadian Ex-pats Patty and her husband Kelly own this casual open-aired bar in downtown Sosua with friendly staff and great casual food. Stop by for a cold beer or enjoy a hockey game over a burger/wings/fries and the best damn gravy I've even tasted. It'll become your new home away from home during your stay. It was for me!
