"BEST BAR EVER"

I would go there all the time and is truly amazing. The people are great, the beer is great (one of the few places that has beer on tap), and the food is great. I would recommend this bar to absolutely anyone who likes good times and alcohol.

"ONE WORD "AMAZING""

The most amazing place in the D.R. The food, drinks, staff, owners, atmosphere, music, everything was just what we were searching for!
Great party spot and a definite must visit while in the Sosua area!!
You will definitely receive a Canadian welcome and will surely want to return again and again. We did and can't wait to again!
See you all soon, especially Kelly and Patty, from your Canadian friends Corey and Jolene! Cheers until next time

"GREAT BAR & RESTAURANT"

We recently visited Sosua and came across the Jolly Roger Bar.
The food was good, the wait staff were friendly and all speak English. The owners are Canadian and Kelly even found a Leaf hockey game. There is something happening near my every day, Bingo on a Tuesdays, Karaoke on Thursday and live entertainment on Friday with Denver singing, the place rocks and everyone is in a party mood like an old fashioned "kitchen party".
Can't wait to go back.

"A GREAT TIME !"

My husband and I just returned from our trip to Sosua which included several visits to the Jolly Roger. From the food, to the staff, to the atmosphere, to entertainment all exceeded expectations. Kelly and Patti are the owners who go out of their way to be accommodating and friendly. Even allowed me to use their personal phone to call Canada in order to check on our son. The Jolly Rodger Burger was unreal especially with a poutine...a slice of Canada in the DR. The weekly events are so much fun. Highly recommend bingo. Again cannot say enough kind things about the Jolly. A must visit- you will not be disappointed. Cannot wait for our next trip!!!

"GREAT CANADIAN STYLE PUB IN SOSUA"

Stopped by here Jan. 1/17. It was a short walk from my hotel and I was craving some wings and beer. I read a review on Trip advisor and had to go. I had 20 wings with hot sauce and some Coronas. The wings were done perfectly and the beer was very cold. This was just like at home in London, Ontario Canada. I had the chance to talk to Kelly, the owner, and found he was from Canada and not far from my home. It was great to chat with him. This definitely a place to visit in Sousa and would recommend it to anyone!

"GREAT FOOD, GREAT HOSTS, GREAT PRICES!!"

My husband and myself visited the Jolly Roger bar a couple of times while we were in Sosua. Kelly and his wife Patty are former Canadians living the dream!!! They are friendly and informative and their prices are amazing for the food and drinks. Happy hour is between 5-8 daily and they have greats specials. The staff all speak English and Spanish and are very friendly and wonderful servers. They have events all week long, however Thursday night is karaoke night and gets quite busy by 8pm. If you want to check it out go early and have dinner first you won't regret it. There is an older couple (85 years young) that told us they go every Thursday for karaoke. They are absolutely adorable. They are also former Canadians living the dream!! This is a fantastic spot and we can't wait to return!!

"A TRUE PUB & GRILL"

You turn off the highway at the Jolly Roger sign you just have to tell yourself you are going the right way you look at very very Steep Hill.
When you think are totally lost you are almost there. Actually except for the road it is not that bad.

When you get there and walk up to the restaurant three of the four sides of the restaurant open to the Jungle. Geckos run wild and seating picnic table style seats.

But if you are going there for the ambience you have gone to the wrong place. If you are going there for food and drink then you are in the right place.
Over 20 different kinds of wings and their hamburgers are to die for that is if you can finish one.
The other thing if you were going there do not without ordering storm frys
and onion rings. You are out of this world in taste.
Taking a trip to the Jolly Roger is an experience that you will not soon forget

"A GREAT FIND!"

After a morning snorkeling trip, my Son and I were looking for a good meal. Walking along the street we were met with the smell of delicious food - that pulled us in. We learned the wonderful smell was just the beginning. This pub is a great find. The service is excellent and friendly. The food is even better than it smells and the owners could not be friendlier. They took time to sit and chat, filling us in on local information. What lovely people! You must check out this place. The vibe is excellent and the food is awesome. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the affordable prices as well.

"PATTY & KELLY ARE ALWAYS GOOD HOSTS"

I've stopped there many times mid afternoon for a beer and a luncheon and always had good food and service ; many expats go there for drinks and bingo and some nights they have live rock and roll music which is a welcome relief from all the rap music you hear in other places ;

"THE FRIENDLIEST BAR IN SOSUA"

The Jolly Roger, owned and hosted by Kelly & Patty Lacey, is always welcoming to residents and tourists alike. The Bar is well known for it's charitable fund raising for numerous groups in need of financial assistance through it's Tuesday Bingo afternoons. They have foozball competitions, dart nights, karaoke nights, Trivia Sundays and live entertainment whenever possible on weekends. Families are welcome with their children

Food is excellent and great value for tourists and locals and the service is excellent.

Whether the Jolly Roger is celebrating Halloween, Christmas, Canadian or American Thanksgiving, Dominican Independence Day, serving up something special for Sunday Dinner or just open for business, this is a must visit Bar for anyone coming to Sosua and is located away from the seedier section of Pedro Clisante - the Main Street of Sosua.

"GREAT FOOD, GREAT PEOPLE!"

We have been visiting this establishment for the last eight months, consistently! And the reason, I say "visiting," is because it's about so much more than the food (although we enjoy that too!) they have friendly, long-term staff, who speak English and are pleased to see you and serve you. As well, the environment is friendly, fun and relaxed, with awesome music that won't blast you out of your seat. We've enjoyed live entertainment by Denver Colorado there and our fourteen year old son loves to go there to enjoy the foosball tournaments! The place is frequented by many expats, many of whom know each other and meet up there for a drink or to participate in one of the organized weekly activities, such as bingo, foosball, darts, thieves market...this restaurant quickly became our new favorite hang out (for all three of us) in Sosua. If you're in town, go check them out. You'll be glad you did!

“GREAT SPOT ON THE MAIN DRAG”

Such a good place to meet some great folks. Pat and Kelly are very friendly and make everyone feel welcome. They have lots of activities scheduled through the week that makes each time you go a different experience; darts night, karaoke, bingo, flea market... all great.

The food is fairly typical pub fare with most of it fried but the exception is their sub sandwiches... they're fabulous. Try the meatball sub, so so good.

I don't drink beer and mentioned that I like cider and so Kelly sent off to the store to get me a locally made cider and made sure to have it on hand for the rest of my stay.

I can't wait to go back.... it's the main reason I would go back to Sosua. I travel to the Caribbean frequently to see as many islands as I can and I have to say, I met more great people on this trip than any other and most I met here.

“Great Bar, great people”
My girlfriend and I visited the Jolly Roger last February. We loved it. Great atmosphere, felt like home. Good food, very good prices. And friendly people. They did have a fire and have rebuilt. We are going back to the Dominican this February and will definitely be going back. Love it!!!

“Jolly Roger 2.0 better than ever”
Jolly is reconstructed after the fire this spring. Patty and Kelly have worked hard to reopen. The result is perfect. The same mix of nice guests welcoming staff and hard working owners. We love this bar. It is the place to spend a night with a few drinks or a dinner. When in Sosua, don't miss this.

“Welcome back!”
I am so very happy that Jolly Rogers is open again! If i could give 6 stars I would, from outstanding food to the best in customer service. Being from Canada I have a weakness for the potatoe skins with cheddar cheese bacon and a side of sour cream. Patty and Kelly the owners go out of their way to make this your home away from home, the restaurant boasts a lot of expats that are more then willing to help guides newbies through the Dominican. You are probably going shopping in the hood anyway so worst case you spend 100 pesos on a drink to see for yourself? On top of everything above Jolly Rogers also helps many charities in the Dominican, from bingo nights to trivia to karaoke never a shortage of things to do.. What are you waiting for join the crew, I give u my personal word you will not be disappointed.

“The new Jolly Roger”
Have had great times, eating, (great food, great portions) drinking, very friendly and fun bar/waitress staff. Very warm welcoming atmosphere all round. Have fun in the company of those who regularly visit the bar grill. Patty and Kelly, the owners, make the place like a home from home for all customers.

“The Jolly Roger Sails Again!”
Just re-opened following a fire last fall, the Jolly Roger has begun to recapture the spirit that sets this place apart. The same friendliness of staff, management and customers, the nautical theme reflecting the talent and dedication of owner Kelly... good prices, good food and good times!

We spent last Feb and march in Sosua and met the most incredible people there at the Jolly Roger Bar. Kelly and Patty are two of the best people you could ever ask to meet always willing to give you information and help you along with anything you need or want. They also are the owners of the Jolly Roger Bar in Sosua. The staff are wonderful always working with a smile on their face hurrying to get your drinks or food. The Pena Coladas are right there on the top of the drink list and Kelly sure knows how to make them.....bingo on Tuesdays and Sundays are a focal point of hanging out at the Jolly. Mike (Mick) Jenkins is another one at the Jolly you will want to meet..He is a brother and very close friend of mine. They all three of them look after you as if you are family and when you are there you are the extended Jolly Roger family....We are back again this Feb, Mar and April for three months escaping the snow that’s a recipe for a great winter.

Very sad to hear the "Jolly" was burnt to the ground this AM. Arson is suspected. It will be rebuilt, I've been told. Best wishes to two lovely people, Kelly and Patty. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. P.S. We'll be there next Jan. 1. We expect cold cerveza.

“Good time again at Jolly Roger” - Spent another great week in Sosua and hanging out at the Jolly Roger in January.
This was our daily stop for great food, great drinks and great people. All day happy hour. The owners are nice people and make everyone feel welcome. The service is great.
I Spent an afternoon with the owner ( Kelly ) on his 4 wheelers (quads) and had a great time. His machines are powerful and well maintained. He takes you to see the real Dominican Republic , through the countryside,up in the mountains and through a few rivers with stops along the way for cold beverages and lunch. We ended up stuck in the mud up in the mountains and some friendly farmers actually came with ropes and chains and pulled us out. Very safe and lots of fun. This was a great afternoon and we came back totally filthy.
So go see Kelly and Patty at the bar for a few drinks and some good food and ask Kelly about this trip. Hope to see you again Patty and Kelly.
